Toonami Ends. TOM Says Goodbye For The Last Time.

TOMAs reported by ANN, Cartoon Network has ended the 11-year run of its Toonami programming block. Naruto was the only anime left on the schedule.

The Toonami Jetstream online streaming service will reportedly still continue, albeit under the branding “Jetstream”. It has also been reported that Cartoon Network is working to import the Japanese-animated Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z: A spinoff of the Powerpuff Girls series. To fill in for the now vacant timeslot, the live-action Spider-Man film will run instead of Toonami on September 27. On October 4th, Batman: Gotham Knight will be run at 8:00 PM after which an episode of Naruto will air at 9:30 PM.

Since 1997, Toonami has carried dozens of anime series including, but not limited too: “Voltron, Robotech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Ronin Warriors, G-Force: Guardians of Space, Blue Submarine No. 6, Tenchi Muyo!, Cardcaptors, Zoids, .hack//SIGN, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, The Big O, Outlaw Star, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Cyborg 009, Duel Masters, Astro Boy, Gundam, Rave Master, Zatch Bell, One Piece, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Pokémon, MÄR, The Prince of Tennis, Megaman Star Force, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, and Blue Dragon.”

Toonami started dying when TOM 3.0 hit the scene TOM 4.0 and his gang just killed it entirely. The lack of Total Immersion Events and Naruto being the only anime series left just foretold cancellation. Whoever pulled all the un-finished anime series just for an Hour of Naruto is probably at fault.

Well, there’s only about ten or so episodes left in the first Naruto series, so they could have at least waited until the finished airing those to stop Toonami.
Jeez, there goes some good childhood memories down the drain.

Cartoon network is pretty much dead to me. Adult swim went on an artisty spree and started showing less anime and even less good anime subsituted with Tim and Eric who need to be killed. Toonami is about the same. less good programing and subed in crap…kills shows.

Man this sucks Toonami’s been on since I was 6 I used to run home from the bus stop just to catch it.
Lots of great memories the Old DBZ shows, Voltron, Thundercats, Jonny Quest, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Zoids and so many others.
Toonami, and Tom’s 1-3 you will be missed, Tom 4 you can die.
